In the seminar, the participants are exposed to all the important information about this career. The seminar is designed with an aim to educate the participants about Actuary Profession and to motivate them by informing about the virtues of this career. The seminar will throw light on various questions related to this career such as: “Who is an Actuary?, What does an Actuary do?, Why should one prefer to be an Actuary?” and later talks about the Job Prospects and remuneration of an Actuary etc.
The cost of the study is low and the students can have the option of “earn-while-you-learn”. There are no visa hurdles and there is no requirement of GRE, GMAT, SAT or any other entrance exams.
One can opt for this career, if one has any of the following qualifications:

  • 10+2 in any discipline with 85% marks in Maths.

  • Any graduate with 55% marks in.

  • Maths/ Stats/ Econometrics/ Computer Science.

  • Engineers in any discipline or equivalent.

  • MBA (finance) / CA / CWA / MCA.

Actuary Career can be pursued from any of the following institutes:

ACTUARIAL SOCIETY OF INDIA (ASI), Mumbai.
INSTITUTE and FACULTY OF ACTUARIES, LONDON, U.K.

The course consists of 14 papers. The course can be completed between 4 to 5 years depending on the time devoted by the student for the preparation of the examinations.

It is no secret that actuaries are highly paid. On qualification, a new actuary is likely to be on a salary of approx. Rs. 30 lacs per year in UK and Rs.18 lacs per year in India.
Career opportunity starts as soon as the student completes the first 5 papers. Stipend for an Actuarial Trainee in UK is approx. Rs. 1,50,000 per month and in India approx. Rs. 25,000 per month.
